My favorite theme this year was the theme of what really happened and the story of Dinosaur Ghosts. This is my favorite theme because you constantly have to ask yourself questions and it keeps you thinking and interested for example in dinosaur ghosts you ask yourself did it got flooded, was it too hot, was it too cold, or did maybe even an asteroid fall to earth. Second, I like it because it teaches you about cool mysteries and the theories about them. Lastly, it is fun to make up you own theories and compare them to see which is the most reasonable. Those are the reasons why I enjoyed that theme so much.
My favorite theme that we have read is doers and dreamers. First, because when Jackie Joiner Kersee was slower than all the other girls she didn’t give up she just worked harder. Second, when Chuck Close became paralyzed and could not use his arm anymore he found a way to strap a brush to his hand and paint. Lastly, when Jackie Joiner Kersee dreamed of doing the long jump and then finally tried it and impressed her coach. My favorite theme was doers and dreamers because of all of those reasons.
This year I have read about many themes. There are many themes I have liked, but I liked the theme Courage the best. To me courage means bravery and determination. In a story called Climb or Die, Danielle and Jake had courage to climb the mountain and not give up. In a resent story called, A Kind Of Grace, Jackie had courage to try to jump without asking. I liked the theme Courage because it means people have the guts to do something that somebody else wouldn’t do.
My favorite theme this year was courage because it was in some of my favorite stories such as: Touching Spirit Bear, Boy of the Painted Cave, and Hatchet. The other reason that I like the theme courage is because in the story Touching Spirit Bear a 15 year old angry boy named Cole Matthews went to a remote Alaskan island to get rid of his anger and find out who he really is. Next, in the story Boy of the Painted Cave a young Indian boy named Tao who lives in the Valley had courage by standing up to his father Volt by asking him questions about his mother who passed away and by living in a cave to show that he was not scared of anything. Lastly, there is courage in the story Hatchet because it is about a boy who is trying to survive in the Canadian wilderness with nothing but his smarts and the plane for shelter that he crashed in while going to go see his dad in his small cabin in Canada.
Courage is one of the most important traits that a human being could have. If you ever want to amount to anything, you have to have the courage to take risks. In Chuck Close, up Close, after “The event” if Chuck didn’t have the courage to continue painting then he wouldn’t have become one of the greatest artists of all time. Also, in The Golden Goblet Ranofer’s courage drove him through all the abuse and pain Gebu put him through. He knew that if he followed his dream and didn’t give up one day he could become a goldsmith. Finally, in Passage to Freedom Sugihara had the courage to defy his government to help the refugee’s get away from the Nazis. In conclusion, I think Courage is an important trait that truly makes a human.
Out of the themes we have read I have liked the theme doers and dreamers. First, I like it because it can teach you what you are a doer or a dreamer. In Jackie Joyner- Kersee she was a doer because she went out did what she wanted. Also in Chuck Close up close he was paralyzed but he didn’t give up.
My personal favorite out of all the themes we have read about is courage. Even though it was the first theme we discussed characters in almost every story have shown that theme. In Touching Spirit Bear Cole Matthews showed courage by going back to the island even after he was attacked by a bear. In Passage to Freedom Sugihara went against his own government to save the thousands of Jewish refugees. In conclusion, courage is my favorite and the most common theme throughout our stories.
My favorite theme was Doers and Dreamers. My favorite story in Doers and Dreamers is Chuck Close: Up Close. In the story Chuck Close he was paralyzed and almost stopped painting. In Jacky Joiner- Kersee she wasn’t the fastest runner on her team but she was determined to run.
My favorite theme this year would have to be courage. We read many fascinating stories ranging in this theme such as Hatchet, Touching Spirit Bear, Passage to Freedom and many others. I loved this theme because this is the theme we started our reading books with. Courage can theme in many differing books even though it’s not meant to be that way. In Hatchet, Brian Robeson feels like he will never be rescued from the wild, so he cries and cries and cries, but, that gives him courage. He has the courage to live on his own in the Canadian woods, all alone. Another story that was one of my favorites was Touching Spirit Bear. This story is about a fifteen year old boy named Cole Matthews who has done a lot of terrible things in his life. He has the courage to face the people he hurt and help them heal. He has the courage to go to an isolation island for a year and learns to forget his anger. This theme is a very amazing life theme which is one of my favorites, and it always will be.
My favorite theme is doers and dreamers. First, because it’s about people like Chuck Close were he didn’t dream about doing a different art. One of his quotes is “If you wait for inspiration, you’ll never get anything done.” Second, is Jackie Joyner Kersee and she never gave up even when she lost ever single time. What she did instead of quitting was just kept practicing. These are the rezones doers and dreamers are my favorite theme.
My favorite theme by far is ‘Doers and Dreamers’ for many reasons I will state in the following paragraph. The first story we read in this theme was ‘A Kind of Grace by Jackie Joyner-Kersee’ which is about a ten year old girl who becomes a famous jumper. The second book we read was ‘Under the Royal Palms’ by Alma Flor Ada, which is about a girl growing up in Cuba, working with her family to create a Nativity scene. The final story we read in this theme is ‘Chuck Close, Up Close’ by Jan Greenberg and Sandra Jordan, which is about an artist who paints portraits, but has to work with a disability. All three books are astounding; I would highly recommend them too many people.
My all time favorite book, out of this theme but still out of this world good, called Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikelsen. It is about an awfully angry fifteen year old boy who learns about the consequences of beating up one of his peers. The main Character, Cole (the angry boy) is banished onto an island and learns from a bear that mauls him. I highly, highly recommend this book, because I learned so much from it.
So far this year, my favorite theme we have read in class is Doers and Dreamers. Doers and Dreamers is my favorite theme because it shows what can happen if you follow your dreams. In the first story we read under this theme was Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Jackie Joyner-Kersee is a biography about an Olympic runner and jumper who had been very determined as a child to follow her dreams and never give up even when others quit. The second story we read is Under the Royal Palms. Under the Royal Palms is a story about a child whose mother is a hard worker and had become one of the first women in Cuba to be certified as a public accountant. The third story we have just finished reading is Chuck Close, Up Close. Chuck Close is a story about a man who is an amazing and original painter who becomes paralyzed but does not give up on painting. Doers and Dreamers is my favorite theme because all of these amazing stories can teach you to follow your dreams and never give up.
My favorite theme out of the 5 themes we had read is ancient cultures. First, ancient cultures are old times in history and I like history. Second, ancient cultures are old thing that are still here today. Some things in ancient cultures are still around like the great wall and Aztecs temples. Last, ancient cultures are hard to not have if we didn’t have ancient cultures we would not see ant we see in history. at the end it is hard to not have ancient cultures
The theme I chose is courage because in most of the stories we read someone showed courage. In Climb or Die, two kids, Danielle and Jake, showed a ton of courage by climbing a mountain to find people at a weather station that could help their parents who got in a car crash. They climbed the mountain only using screwdrivers functioned as pitons, and a nylon leash carabineers. They risked their lives to save their parents, and they were not even sure there would be a weather station. In conclusion, stories that have courage like Climb or Die are exciting.
During this sixth grade year, we have learned about many themes but my favorite one would be Growing Up. First, this theme was interesting with different lessons to teach and it also had powerful words of wisdom to keep with you throughout your life. Secondly, I thought there was really good stories in this theme. My favorite story in this theme would most likely be Tuck Everlasting because it has an unusual concept about never growing up but in the end she decides she needs to live life and be a normal person. In conclusion, this concept of growing up teaches people that this growing up is a big part of life with ups and downs but the journey is an amazing site. These are all the reasons Growing Up was my favorite theme out of all the things we read this year.
In class I have read many stories that have the theme courage. Courage is my favorite theme because it shows bravery and to stand up for your self. The books Touching Spirit Bear and a kind of Grace have lots of courage in them. I really liked the book a kind of grace because Jackie Joyner would run and run but would always keep her dream of jumping. In Touching Spirit Bear Peter had courage to go to the island after trying to commit suicide 2 times. “Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow.”
My favorite theme was Growing Up for the following reasons. First, it taught valuable lessons to children like when Billy showed determination and how to work for something in Where the Red Fern grows. “I told you, Grandpa,” I said, “I was saving my money so I could buy two hound pups and I did.” Second, In Last Summer Maizon it shows another valuable lesson dealing with losing someone. “They’ve turned off the fire hydrants, locked green leaves away, Sprinkled ashes on you and sent you on your way.” Lastly, in The Challenge it teaches you not to lie or disregard the competition because you are facing a girl, that girls can do just as good as boys. “Jose noticed that her legs were bigger than his, and they quivered like the flanks of thoroughbred horse.” In conclusion the theme Growing Up teaches many lessons to children who are learning and have to work through hardship.
My favorite theme in class so far would be growing up. It shows how life isn’t always how you want it to be. In the story, The Golden Goblet a young boy named Ranofer was tricked into being apart of a horrible scheme, that had involved stealing gold and goods. Cole Matthews was a fifteen year old boy who blamed everything on other people and was always angry. Cole came along way to prove his self to prove to every one else how much has really changed. Tao was a lonely young boy who wanted to paint but it was against their tribe law. He was kicked out of his tribe and had to live by himself. I think Growing Up was an amazing theme.
Doers and Dreamers is my favorite theme because it tells about people who thought about things and did it. Chuck Close had learning disabilities, but he never gave up. In the book Guitar solo, Faran fought Zen, and Zen cheated by using a magic word. Faran also used the magic word “Hippopotami? HELP!”. After that he won the fight and the guitar. Doers and dreamers has taught me to never give up.
My favorite theme this year was Doers and Dreamers. I liked this theme because it teaches you about inspirational people. For instance, in the story A Kind Of Grace Mr. Percy gave up his idea of making a track team, but Jackie wanted to keep running so she was referred to a new coach at a different school. Another inspirational story in this theme is Chuck Close Up Close. In this story Chuck is a famous painter that gets paralyzed from the neck down. The doctors said there was no chance of him painting again, but he thought otherwise. Within a few months he was painting again with his arm. As you can see these stories have inspired me and now I know that when someone says you can not do something you go out and do it.
Over the past couple of months, and I think the best theme is “Courage”. I think it tells us what courage is and what it does. In the book “Hatchet” a boy named Brian is forced to live in the wilderness and thought out a plan to help him get through this journey. Next is the book “Passage to Freedom”. A dad named Suhihara was put to the point to lets thousands of people to get a visa to escape from the Nazi’s. Lastly, in “Climb or Die” two kids have to climb up a mountain to a radio station so the kids could save their parents. In conclusion, I think Courage is the best theme!
My favorite theme was courage because it one thing you have to have in life. In the story Chuck Close, Chuck had an event and became paralyzed from the neck down. He had to have courage to still paint and be a great artist. In another book called Climb or Die, two kids get in a car crash and have to get help by climbing a mountain without any mountain climbing gear. My favorite story with courage was Touching Spirit Bear is about a fifteen-year-old who is angry because of his fear. Cole Matthews smashes Peters head into the sidewalk and gets sent to the island in Alaska. He gets mauled by a bear and realizes he is just part of the circle of life. He returns to the island and becomes friends with peter.
My favorite theme is doers and dreamers. The reason why I like the theme doers and dreamers is because there are people who just dream, people who just do, and there are people who do both. Here are some examples of dreamers, in the story The Girl Who Married the Moon, when the two girls are always dreaming of marring the moon. Another example of dreamers is in The Challenge when Jose had been dreaming about being with the new girl in his school. An example of doers is in the story The Great Wall when the Chinese are building the Great Wall that some people think was pointless. In the story Arachne The Spinner is a great weaver and is also a bragger. An example of a doers and dreamers is in the story The Red Fern Grown Billy dreams about getting a dog then works to get one. Another example is when Jackie Jointer wanted to challenge herself and then she ended up challenging herself.
